I know that there are a few members on here that dabble in magic, illusions and slight of hand etc... This area should be used to discuss any of these arts and to gather resources for those who wish to begin or further their skills.

Im very interesting in card tricks but Im a beginner in it. Does someone know a good DVD to learn some good card tricks? (Maybe a online store in Europe?)

Some of my card tricks:

Whoo! Illusion thread! If you lot are trying to get my good and addicted to this forum you're doing a good job of it! Now all you need is a "Working with children forum" and I'm set!

As far as the Illusions go, which, y'know, is the topic
and all.... I tend to concentrate on sponge magic with a little bit of other close up magic mixed in as well. I would love to learn a bit of card magic and also find out where people get their resources from, especially if there are any physical magic stores around the Brisbane area, because as useful as online stores are there isn't anything quite like meeting fellow magic-nerds face to face

To my knowledge there aren't any real magic shops in the Brisbane area, but there are a couple of people that pop up at the South Bank markets sometimes. Although...they tend to be one of those shops; y'know... i bet you hadn't noticed the shop before, and when you went back it wasn't there...full of strange stuff and tended to by a nondescript bloke who smiles all the time.
Anyway...those guys tend to do card magic and close at hand stuff. There's a few stores in Victoria and South Australia you may be able to hook up with for cheaper stuff. The best magic equipment tends to come from the UK. Magicians tend to have standards over there. If you're buying stuff from an Asian online store...don't waste your money. If it comes at all...it wont be what you thought. American stuff is quite good but tends to be over the hill with price and the exchange rate only makes it worse. Around the Christmas period Ebay is great for magic gear.
